Learn the art of woodcutting using watercolours with printmaker Richenda Court.

Be inspired by the wealth of prints within our exhibitions and collection and discover how to use multiple woodcut tools, create an image and print your final design.

In this workshop, you will learn how to create a woodcut design on A5 size piece of Japanese plywood. Using traditional Japanese woodcut tools, you will add watercolour washes onto the paper before printing your woodcut design.

For inspiration, you will visit the exhibition and develop a composition from sketches and printed images.

All abilities welcome, Richenda will give a detailed demonstration of how to use the woodcut tools and the process of both carving and printing using dampened etching paper.

All materials are provided and you can enjoy tea, coffee and biscuits from our self-service trolley.

If you have any further questions, or would like to discuss access needs, please do not hesitate to contact us.
