Christopher Wood's 'China Dogs' Appeal
In 2017 we launched an appeal to acquire Christopher Wood’s ‘China Dogs in a St Ives Window’ for our permanent collection, a significant painting that had been on long term loan to us since 2009 and has always been much admired by our visitors.
We secured substantial grants from the Art Fund and Arts Council England/Victoria and Albert Museum Purchase Grant Fund, but needed help to raise the remaining £15,000.
Thanks to the generosity of the public and the Friends of Pallant House Gallery we were able to reach our target and an additional private donation ensured the painting could be fully conserved for public display.
